| How much does it cost? |
A lap quilt size (12 tees) is $330.00. Additional blocks are approximately $28.50 each depending on the layout.
A block usually consists of each shirt graphic you want to include in your quilt.
For example: If you have a shirt that you want us to use both the front and the back of it, then that would be 2 blocks within the quilt. If you only wanted us to use one side of the shirt, that would be used as one block in the quilt.

| How are the quilts constructed? How long does it take? |
We will start by going through the tees with you.
Our first step is to press each tee and attach stabilizer to the back. This helps to prevent stretching.
Next, we cut each tee to a 15" x 15" block (If additional piecing has been ordered, we will piece to create a 15" x 15" block.)
2" 100% cotton black fabric sashing is added around each block (horizontal and vertical rows and sides).
When the top of your tee shirt quilt is complete, we cut 80/20 batting to size along with the backing fabric (100% black cotton fabric).
The quilt is then long arm quilted from edge to edge, trimmed, and 100% cotton black binding is added.

| Should I cut my shirts? |
Some customers have pre-cut their shirts thinking they could save some money, only to find out that they cut them too small for us to make our normal block size. In these cases, we either have to rebuild the blocks that are too small by piecing them or cut all the blocks a smaller size which reduces the size of the quilt. We charge an additional $8.50 to piece a block, so the pre-cutting can actually end up costing you more money.
If you have large to X-large shirts, adult male shirts or larger you could possibly pre-cut them but we require a minimum 16″ X 16″ block.

| Can you use different type shirts other than cotton t-shirts? |
Yes! Just about any type of material that lays flat will work. But there are a few exceptions! Below is a list of what we can and cannot use. If you don’t see the type of shirt on this list, please feel free to contact us.

sweatshirts
pajamas

cheerleading uniforms
dance costumes
heavily sequenced items
hats
knit items such as sweaters, afghans, scarves etc.

| How many shirts make a good sized quilt? |
Quilts look good when there is a balanced number of rows. For example, if you sent 20 t-shirts, the quilt would be in rows of 5 blocks x 4 blocks and this would look good. If someone sent us 23 t-shirts, we would need to add an extra graphic to bring it up to a 24 (long twin). Quilts look best when the following number of shirts are sent: 16, 20, 24, 25, 30, 36, 42, 49.

Throw/lap quilt: 12 tees/blocks
Twin quilt: 20 tees/blocks
XL Twin quilt: 24 tees/blocks
Full size quilt: 25 tees/blocks
Queen size quilt: 36 tees/blocks

| Can I plan my own layout? |
Normally we just arrange the shirts by alternating lights and darks or by dispersing colors. If you would like a special layout bring a printed photo of your suggestion when you drop off the tees.

| What is the piecing charge, How do I combine multiple shirts into a block? |
Sometimes we need to build up a shirt to construct a block . A tank top is a good example. V neck shirts, or if the shirts were precut too small to make a full block also would need piecing. We charge an additional $8.50 per block to piece the block together. We try to use the original fabric from the shirt to make it look seamless.
If you would like to combine 2 shirts together, or possibly small pocket or sleeve logos. We can do that! The $8.50 piecing charge per block will also apply.

| What about a tee with a front and a back that I want in the quilt? |
If your tee has a front/back graphic that you'd like to use, we can do both however it will count as two blocks.
